Jakub “Engi” Engelmajer is a firearms and personal freedom enthusiast who spends all his free time either at the shooting range or hiking in the mountains with a backpack.
As a graduate of Political Science and European Studies, he works on drafting and reviewing new firearms legislation and on building alliances and partnerships to support the right of Czech citizens to own, possess, and carry firearms. Since 2019, he has been a member of the board of LEX z.s. – Association for the Protection of Firearms Owners’ Rights(https://gunlex.cz/) and the coordinator of LEX Eastern Bohemia (https://www.facebook.com/LEXPardubice). Within LEX Eastern Bohemia, he lectures, organizes shooting training, and more. As an author, he also contributes to the professional magazine Střelecká revue.
Since 2005, he has been active in the field of security, defensive and tactical shooting, and the related legislation. He has completed most of the available courses at Hard Task and the Aegis Academy, including week-long courses such as Personal Security Detail, Close Protection, and Aegis Training Camp.
In 2015, he was certified by the US Army USAEUR OCSURG as a Combat Lifesaver and, as the exclusive importer for MPI CZ, worked as a Glock pistol armorer. Since 2016, he has served as a firearms and ammunition examiner appointed by the Czech Ministry of the Interior, testing applicants for firearm licenses in their professional competency exams. He also holds a firearms license for firearms training and instruction. He works as a referee at LOS competitions, and in 2018, as part of the first group of 11 members from the Czech Republic, he also obtained IDPA referee certification.
Besides shooting, his second passion is hiking and long marches. He is the founder of the project and fundraising campaign In the Footsteps of Heroes, during which he completed a 750 km trek across Slovakia (and part of Poland) from Dukla to Devín along the so-called SNP Trail, with the goal of raising awareness about the fate of soldiers and police officers in distress and collecting funds for them through a public fundraiser. The entire project ultimately raised nearly CZK 100,000. Among other challenges, he also completed the longest organized march in the Czech Republic – the Military Death March – in the toughest category, Super Extreme Walker, covering 117 km in the Šumava mountains within 30 hours.
